The Barony of Highland Foorde

On Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Hagerstown City Park in Hagerstown MD, the Barony of Highland Foorde hosted Highland River Melees and Baronial Investiture. This year's event marked the 10th anniversary of Highland Foorde's status as a Barony.

After a week of rain every day, the skies cleared overnight, revealing a beautiful blue sky with perfect weather to add to the special day. A gentle breeze wafted through from time to time, and the temperature was fantastic.

There were over 120 fighters on the field, over 30 fencers, over 30 archers, and over 30 folks throwing weapons. Hire-a-bard services went very well, and the silent auction and drink sale also did well.

There were two courts - morning court with the last court of IsBella and Llywelyn and then Investiture of Siegfried and Francesca. There were quite a few awards given out and many smiles and tears.

All in all, the event went very well and everyone seemed to have a great time!
