Barony Meeting

Day: 1st Thursday of each month
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Where: Thursdays at the Rec Center (Armory by Baker Park) in Frederick [Directions]
Details: This is the Barony's monthly populace meeting. All official baronial actions, changes to law, etc will occur at this meeting. All members of the populace are encouraged to attend. The meeting occurs at the Frederick City Recreation Center (Directions), located at the corner of Bentz and Second Streets in Frederick, Maryland. Inquire at the desk to find out which room we are meeting in.

Archery Practice

Day: Every Sunday during Fighter Practice
Time: 2pm until 5pm
Where: National Guard Armory [Directions]
Details: Archery practice is held at the National Guard Armory. PLEASE contact the marshal if you are not on the Highland Foorde mailing list and plan on showing up, it can somewhat regularly be cancelled due to SCA events, life happenings, etc. It is outside and thus will be cancelled in inclement weather. For specific information, contact Siegfried Sebastian Faust. Archery practices are dependent upon the weather.

Heavy Practice

Day: Every Sunday
Time: 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Where: Tash and Livia's house, 8209 Ball Road, Frederick, MD [Directions]
Details:. The Sunday heavy fighter practice is outside and thus will be cancelled in inclement weather. PLEASE contact the marshal if you are not on the Highland Foorde mailing list and plan on showing up, it can somewhat regularly be cancelled due to SCA events, life happenings, etc. It is held concurrently with rapier, and following archery. For specific information, contact Tascius.

 

 

Cook's Guild

Details: Each month the guild prepares a number of different dishes, and guild members are encouraged to suggest their own menu selections. Evening fare usually consists of a main dish, a side dish or two, and a dessert dish all of which are prepared and then - the best part - consumed. An evaluation of the dishes and their suitability for feasts follows. A contribution to cover the cost of groceries is required, and the amount of which will be decided upon based upon the evenings fare and the number of attendees. Rapier Practice

Details: The Sunday rapier practice is outside and thus will be cancelled in inclement weather. Clothier's Guild

Day: Scheduled as posted on the calendar
Time: 7pm - 9pm
Where: Alessandra's House
Details: The local Clothier's Guild meets monthly to discuss & sew various period garments. It is open to all, and if you need directions to her house, contact Alessandra de Venizia

Newcomer's Night

Day: On hold
Time: 7pm - 9pm
Where: Rec Center[Directions]
Contact: Margaret Sayher
Details: Newcomer's night is an excellent place for people new to the SCA, or new to our group to show up and learn about what we do. It also is open to everyone in the group, and tends to become a 'hang out' and a 'second project night' in many ways since everyone shows up and brings whatever they wish to do.

Project Night

Day: Varies
Time: 7pm - ???
Where: Varies
Details: Project Night (which sometimes becomes project day), is usually held on a Friday evening, once a month. But the day/location changes as different people volunteer to hold it. It is organized by the Baronial A&S officer. The purpose is to have a night (or day) to hang out together and for everyone to bring their projects with them to work on and/or get help with. Sometimes there is a group project to be worked on, often there isn't. And anyone is welcome to come and just sit back and talk. For specific information, contact Alessandra de Venizia

Directions to the Recreation Center:


The Rec Center looks like a castle and sits at the corner of Bentz and Second Streets in Frederick. To get there, exit onto Rt. 144 from I-70 and go west into town. Once in town, continue on until you can turn right onto Market Street. Do so, and soon after turn left onto Second Street. At the end of the block you will see it on your left. A sign will be inside indicating what room we are in. (map)

Directions to the National Guard Armory:


The Armory is located right off of Rt. 144 just east of Frederick. If you are heading eastbound on I-70, then take the first exit you see for Rt. 144 and head east (away from town). The Armory will be almost immediately on your right. If you are heading westbound on I-70, then take the first exit you see for Rt. 144 and head west (towards town). The Armory will be on your left in a couple miles, after crossing the Monocacy River.

Directions to the Frederick Coffee House:


Take I70 to exit 55 (South St). Turn right off the exit (back towards town) and stay on South St to East St (first traffic light). Turn right on East, and the Frederick coffee shop is on the corner of East and Church (3 blocks).

Directions to Borders in Hagerstown:


Take I70 West to I81 North (Exit 26). Take exit 6B (Route 40 West) and turn right at the light into the shopping center.

Directions to Tash and Livia's House:


From the west, south or northeast - Take I-70 to exit 54 (Market Street/355/85). Turn onto 355 south. Take 355 past the Monocacy River, then take the 1st road on the LEFT, Ball Rd. The house is 1/2 mile up the road on the RIGHT. There are two short telephone poles in the front yard.

From the southeast - take I-270 to exit 80 (Urbana). Take a LEFT onto 355 north. Follow it for about 4 miles to RIGHT onto Ball Rd. If you get to the Monocacy River, you have gone too far. The house is 1/2 mile up the road on the RIGHT. Look for the two short telephone poles in front of the house.
