Paid members of the SCA who reside within the boundaries of the Barony of Highland Foorde are receiving polling letters. On these letters, the names of the candidates who have volunteered to serve as Baron and Baroness will be presented. The members of the Barony receiving these letters are encouraged to fill out their choice of Baron and Baroness, with their reasons for their choices, whether for or against. This will help Their Majesties, Logan and Esa, make an informed choice as to which couple might best serve the Barony as their leaders.

We urge you to please fill out the forms as soon as you receive them and put them in the mail right away, as there is a very short window of opportunity for Their Majesties to make Their decision. By selecting the appropriate link above, you may view information about each set of candidates, as provided by the candidates themselves. In no particular order:

Fergus and Glynis

Fergus and Glynis

Unto the King and Queen of Atlantia, Baron and Baroness of Highland Foorde, populace and officers of Highland Foorde and any other interested parties, greetings from Lord Fergus of Hanna and Lady Glynis Gwynedd. This missive comes to you to announce our intent to pursue the position of Baron and Baroness of our fine group.

We have a long history within the SCA. Fergus has been active in the SCA for 19 years, and is the last of the founding members of Highland Foorde still in the Barony. Glynis has been active in the SCA society-wide for 14 years, returning permanently home to the Barony 5 years ago. Fergus has served in many offices at the Baronial (and Shire) level, ranging from Herald to MoAS to MoL, and Glynis has been serving the Kingdom in her capacity as webminister for the Pennsic Atlantian encampment and Chancellor of Youth websites, in addition to having served the Barony as Webminister, Thrown Weapons Marshall, Chronicler, and Herald. Fergus has autocratted 2 events and served as
deputy autocrat for at least 6 others, and Glynis has autocratted
Highland River Melees, Baronial Investiture, and served as deputy autocrat for two years for Highland River Melees prior to that.

The duties of the Baron and Baroness of a group are many. The Baron and Baronesss should be leaders with a vision, ready to help guide the group in whatever direction is necessary to help the group prosper and
grow. They should be active in the SCA, representing the Barony at events, providing an ear for those who need it, a shoulder for their subjects to lean on. The Baron and Baroness provide award recommendations to the Crown, in addition to recognizing great deeds
by bestowing awards themselves. They should be able work closely with the Seneschal and other group officers, for although the Baron and Baroness are not technically officers, their influence on the group is a strong one.

We have a vision of where we would like to see this Barony go and grow. The group is already growing some, in the Frederick area, but also in the Griffinsvale and Western Reaches areas. We would like to foster that growth, to nurture it and support it so that it can flourish and spread the joy that is the SCA to many more people. We would like to see the Highland Rangers continue to flourish, so that the Barony can have a strong presence on the field to aid our Kingdom in battle. We would like to nurture the growing interest in the Arts and Sciences within the group.

We are dedicated to the success of the Barony as a whole, and look forward to continuing to serve in whatever capacity is needed.

Siegfried and Francesca

Siegfried and FrancescaUnto the populace of Highland Foorde does Lord Siegfried Sebastian Faust and Lady Francesca Angelo send greetings ...

We wish to declare our intention to run for Baron and Baroness of Highland Foorde upon the retirement of their Excellencies Llewellyn and Isbella.

We thank Llewellyn and Isbella for their many wonderful years of service to the Barony and are saddened to see them go.  However, should they step down and the Barony find us suitable to serve as their replacements, we could only hope to come close to filling their shoes.

We are very committed to the Barony, and want to see it thrive and prosper as it has under the reign of Llewellyn and Isbella.  We have been Baronial Members for 12 of our 14 year in the Society, even commuting to the Barony from the reaches of Lochmere and Bright Hills in the past.  We love the camaraderie that exists within Highland Foorde, our true home in the Knowne World.

Included below is a list of our interests, service, and awards in the SCA.  We hope that we are found suitable replacements but trust in the decisions of the populace & their Majesties.

David and Gerita

To the People of Highland Foorde, and our beloved Baron and Baroness, do we send greetings of the season and our hopes for your continued health and well being in this season of starvation, cold, and plague.

It is our intent, by this letter, to offer ourselves as candidates for Baron and Baroness of Highland Foorde. We feel it to be truly unfortunate that our current and much beloved rulers-in-fief must step down, and we do offer our deepest gratitude for their guidance and support of this motley community in Highland Foorde.

We have long worked to serve the Current Middle Ages to the best of our various abilities. This year marks a quarter century for us both, and we are not certain that grants us sufficient bragging rights; certainly not in the Kingdom of Atlantia, where we have resided a mere fifteen months. In any case, our service allowed us to observe the expectations most rulers live under, and we are well aware of what foolishness we engage in by writing this letter.

Our lists of awards can be found in the Kingdom’s Order of Precedence and need not be quoted here. A list of awards is, in any case, merely that: a list of what we have already done. It is not a list of what we can do, nor a list of what we would like to do. What we can do is offer the Barony our time, energy, and love to bring the theatre of the SCA to everyone who enjoys it. Barons and Baronesses are first responsible to their people as carriers-out of the pomp and ceremony the people wish to include in their experience of the SCA Period. They are second responsible to serve as representatives of the Barony in as many places as they can make themselves seen, and to represent the needs of the people of the Barony to their liege lords. Everyone here knows by now what a proper pest Gerita can be.

What we would like to do for this Barony is to encourage the spirit of fun that was born on that long-ago day in a back yard in what is now The Kingdom of the West. Since “fun” can be defined in many ways, and we do believe that most of them are appropriate to the SCA (being a family organization and such), we know that encouraging that spirit will be a big job. But someone has to do it, and why not us?

Other candidates have offered themselves for this work, and with all our hearts we do encourage the people of Highland Foorde to consider them in all seriousness. Each who has spoken to this point has much to offer, and many have a depth of experience here that is unparalleled. We merely offer another way to meet the demands of our Baronial Charter and continue on as the great Barony of Highland Foorde.

With all due respect,

Lord David ben Leon

Honorable Lady Gerita della Mara

Morgant and Lucrezia

Morgant and Lucrezia

Be it known that we, Lord Morgant Capellanus and Lady Lucrezia di Francesca, respectfully submit our letter of intention to serve as the Baron and Baroness of Highland Foorde. We would proudly serve and represent our barony with humility, dignity and honor. We would undertake our duties and responsibilities supporting our Barony as we grow and become ever more active as a barony in our kingdom

Lord Morgant is a native of our Barony. While away at college, his first event was our first Investiture.Upon returning to our lands and remaining marginally involved over the years, he has become very active over the last few years.Lord Morgant has served as exchequer, deputy autocrat, Captain of the Highland Rangers, web-minister of the Highland Rangers and Baronial Champion.Lord Morgant is currently completing his Marshall training.

Lady Lucrezia arrived to these lands ten years ago. After attending the first Baronial Hunt in Spiaggia Levantina in July of 1995, she soon became exchequer, helping to form the new Canton, and autocrated the second Baronial Hunt in June of 1996.She has been active ever since.Lady Lucrezia has served as exchequer, Kingdom of Atlantia deputy exchequer, royal retainer, chatelaine, deputy chatelaine, autocrat, democrat, project/sewing days hostess, Pennsic land agent and camp coordinator (royal, baronial and household camps), lieutenant to the Master of the Hall and Mistress of the Hall.

The SCA has been and is a large part of our lives.Throughout our years of collective service, we have gained an understanding of the duties and responsibilities that are necessary to make our wonderful Barony work efficiently. It has been and is our pleasure to serve.

As your Baron and Baroness, there would be areas upon which we would like to focus. These include workshops, demos, events, field presence and recognition. We would like to see our Barony grow in members, services and abilities.

* We feel it is important to make activities accessible to as many members as possible. In this effort we would support the growth of our canton. We would continue to support a variety of open workshops to provide the opportunity for our populace to share their current skills and learn new ones. There are many talented artisans in our community with much to share. We feel that working together in this active environment builds stronger bonds and intrigue new members.
* As demos are the life blood of our organization, we would continue to always do our best to support and attend them.It would be important to us to support the effort to look for additional demo opportunities, especially educational demos to support our community and attract new members.
* Events are the most public of our activities to most of the members within our organization. We would like to see our March event become an event including marshal activities. We would also like to see the continuation of Highland River Melees as a demo/event in the park.It is attracting more of the Unknown World as it has become a fixture in our community and provides a wonderful event for the Known World.
* We would work to improve Highland Foorde’s reputation on the field and contribution to the the Atlantian Army.By leveraging the fighters we have to train new fighters, we can become respected within the Kingdom and feared by our enemies.
* It is with recognition that the populace realizes that we appreciate all of their selfless efforts that they put forth. We would support the continued efforts in the creation of our children’s award. We feel that special childhood recognition encourages continued service and participation throughout a person’s life.We would like to support the creation of more specialized awards to recognize the growing efforts and services of our populace.

Highland Foorde is a group of wonderful individuals who are always willing to serve and eager to learn and willing to grow. Our events and demos are well received and fun for everyone.Meetings and workshops are well attended, demonstrating the interest and support that our members have for our Barony and each other. We feel that the Barony is growing and supports our populace, Kingdom and society well.

The future of Highland Foorde will be glorious. We would take on this endeavor with enthusiasm, thoughtfulness and advisement. We understand that this is a position of trust and we would always be responsible and accountable to our Crown, Kingdom and populace first and foremost. If chosen, we would be proud to represent and support our populace and Crown as our Barony continues to grow and serve.

By our hand this November A.S XXXVIII C.E. 2008,

Lord Morgant Capellanus
